Sew a yellow/pink strip unit to opposite sides of a white center square, with yellow strips adjacent to white square. Sew the pink/white and yellow/white units into 16 squares which look like this (2 1/2″ squares) and press to pink: Repeat above step to make 16 yellow and white units. Cut the units into a total of 16 units which are 1 1/2″ wide. Trim selvedges from the pink and white strip units. Sew a pink wof strip (1 1/2″ wide) to a white wof strip along the long edges. Trim off the selvedges and cut the strips into a total of (16) 8 1/2″ long units. Repeat 3 times so you have a total of 4 pink and yellow strips (2 1/2″ x wof).
Sew a pink wof strip (1 1/2″ wide) to a yellow wof strip along the long edges. Fuse to white squares and machine applique. Cut out on line and remover paper backing. Iron to WRONG sides of fabric, according to manufacturer’s instructions. Cut out pieces about 1/8″ outside of drawn line. Trace applique patterns onto paper side of fusible webbing. Cut 4 wof strips, 2 1/2” wide (binding).Cut 5 wof strips, 1 1/2” wide (block corners and block borders).Cut 7 wof strips, 1 1/2” wide (block corners, block borders, table runner sashing and borders).From this strip, cut (4) 9” squares (block centers) Assorted scraps for strawberry appliquesĬutting Instructions (WOF=width of fabric).

While designing this project, I decided that pink and yellow is my new favorite color combination! Isn’t it perfect for summer or spring? I remember as a kid, that the unofficial kick-off of the summer season was going to a local “pick-your-own” field to harvest baskets & baskets of strawberries.
